Established in 2014, Benedict Designs is an eclectic mix of jewellery, crafts and ideas. I specialise in creating handmade bespoke pieces using silversmithing or enamelling, or a combination of both. Founded on the Isle of Wight, all of my creations are lovingly designed and crafted in my small garden workshop close to the beach.
My interest in enamelling started when my father took up enamelling and silversmithing as a hobby. I initially learnt how to enamel in his garage workshop back in the 80’s! After he died in 2013, I decided to put his tools to good use and enrolled in some silversmithing classes –and so my journey began.
Now that I have retired as a full-time nurse, I enjoy creating in my own workshop which was built by my husband in the garden. I am also delighted that my father’s hallmark from Edinburgh Assay office has been transferred over to me.
My work is mainly in silver and enamel but I am trying other materials such as bronze, gold and sea glass. I particularly welcome commissions and can ‘up cycle’ any old gold or silver to create your design.
I am gradually building up my stock so keep looking in!
